The skin reflects everything that goes on in our body: all aspects of physical health as well as mental, what we are eating and drinking, and what kind of environment we live in. To maintain healthy skin, we give you some tips for smooth skin.
These suggestions are based on the advice given by medical and cosmetic specialists, being universal and with positive consequences for any type of skin. If, however, you have any persistent problems such as acne, or psoriasis, be sure to consult a doctor.
8 TIPS FOR SMOOTH SKIN
1. DAILY CLEANING
One of the most important tips for a smooth skin, and that’s why we present it first. All skin types need cleaning with a gel, foam or liquid. If you have oily skin you should do it obligatorily twice a day in the morning and at bedtime. The key here is to let the product work. In addition to removing makeup, you must work on the skin to clean the oil and accumulated environmental dirt. Let it act for a few minutes and remove with lukewarm water.
2. MANDATORY SUNSCREEN DURING THE DAY
Be it summer, be winter … Using sunscreen is mandatory to prevent premature aging of the skin. At the start, the moisturizer that you put on every day and even the make-up products already have SPF included. However, this protection is not enough for all day. Go applying sunscreen during the day, every three hours or so. If it is not in cream, use a makeup powder with sunscreen to touch up during the day.
3. NIGHT CREAM WITH RETINOID
Retinoid is derived from vitamin A, being an extremely complete substance because they encompass a wide variety of natural and synthetic compounds. They act on the skin interacting with their constituents and are able to reduce inflammation, sebum production, melanin production, increase collagen production and retain water. So they are indicated to combat skin blemishes, to combat acne and depigmentation, to prevent wrinkles and to moisturize the skin. Night creams with this substance (usually indicated with retinol) are what you should use.
4. EAT FOODS WITH OMEGA-3S AND ANTIOXIDANTS
Foods and drinks rich in omega-3s and antioxidants are extraordinary for the skin, helping to keep it moisturized and reduce inflammation. Salmon and other fatty fish are some examples of good foods. Blueberries, greens, green tea, coffee and even a glass of red wine every day are the best sources of antioxidants.
5. BEWARE OF ALCOHOL
At the previous point we talked about a glass of red wine, but here we are talking about cocktails and white drinks. Alcoholic beverages are extremely dehydrating and have large amounts of sugar. Drinking without exaggeration is the best advice because the skin reflects any and all excess in this area.
6. TRANSPIRING
Physical exercise helps the skin in two ways. On the one hand, when you perspire, you are eliminating fat that accumulates in the body. On the other hand, increasing heart rate improves blood circulation and releases endorphins, which helps the skin to stay radiant and healthy.
7. SLEEP WELL
The recommended minimum is 7 hours per night. Sleeping slightly increases anxiety levels, which in turn contributes to the aging of the skin and to the appearance of acne. The skin is reacting to your nervous system, to excess cortisol, the stress hormone.
8. SUNBATHING
This tip may seem contradictory, but sunshine in moderation does as well as exaggerating in the hours of exposure. If you are using sunscreen or makeup with sunscreen better, but a moderate amount of vitamin D is ideal: it speeds up the renewal of the skin and promotes the restructuring of the epidermis, improving the texture of your skin. All in moderation is one of the best tips for smooth skin.
